As a working mom of a 2 year old and one on the way (officially 22 weeks pregnant!) I have to prioritize my time – more so now because of my low energy levels. I need to make time just to keep the house clean and together so to do this I spread it out during the week. By not expecting myself to do too much after work I’m able to complete simple tasks and by the end of the week I’ve got a decent looking home!
I have to stick to this schedule because if I don’t all the house work piles up and my weekends are spent either stepping over and pushing aside messes or cleaning for hours on end – neither of which is okay with me.
To make it easy I do the same things each week, and included a day to cover anything that I missed or that needs special attention. Feel free to do what works for you and mix up any of the dates and tasks.
A couple of weeks ago I tried a new to me product, Branch Basics. This is an all natural concentrate made from high quality natural products. Plus it simplifies cleaning because I can use the same solution in various concentration levels for EVERYTHING!
I was able to pour it straight into my washing machine, add some distilled water and get a streak free clean of my glass shower, and wiped up my entire kitchen with the same solution.
Here’s my cleaning schedule – it works for us. Each day takes about 30 minutes and by the weekend I don’t have much to do. FYI – I don’t do anything on Friday because – I just can’t. I’m so tired from the week that I give in to whatever we want to eat and however the house looks. #momlife
Here’s a look at my schedule:
Daily – make beds, pick up in main areas, sweep, dishes, wipe down counters
Monday – Laundry: wash, fold, put away
Tuesday – Bedrooms: pick up, vacuum and dust
Wednesday – Kitchen: wipe counters, clean fridge, microwave, stove, and oven, sweep
Thursday – Laundry: wash, fold, put away
Sunday – Bathrooms: wipe counters, clean shower, toilet and mirrors, mop and take out trash
On the days where I can’t manage to stay on schedule I make sure to double up over the next day. And, if that doesn’t happen, because, life – then I know Saturday mornings are open and I can do a clean sweep across the entire house to at least make it look livable again and not just lived in.
What are some tips and tricks that you use to keep a clean house?
